A competition entry for the renewal of hangar 2 & 3 in Jaffa Port. Jaffa port’s agenda doesn’t aim for the port to become another closed retail area, but it’s focus is to attract a different audience that seeks authentic places, where retail can be relevant but not necessarily its main interest.

Jaffa port contains a functioning fishermen port. The port offers spaces of unique feel and it’s important that its authenticity should not be lost or compromised. The only problem is that Jaffa port does not have a profitable economic model for developing. HQ Architects’ design solution to this problem is to ensure a smart distribution of sources that would include specific programs with superior quality design and finishes, as opposed to a compromised design and finishes for the whole complex.
