This masterplan for Sheba Medical Center — ranked among the world’s top 10 hospitals — transforms the institution into a resilient, borderless, and integrated healthcare environment for the decades ahead.
Situated on a 550,000 sq.m. site on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, Sheba is projected to expand to 1,450,000 sq.m. by 2045. As the surrounding landscape shifts from pastoral to urban, the hospital will evolve from a gated medical enclave into an open, city-connected campus. Guided by the principles of expansion, accommodation, and integration, the plan introduces new infrastructure, green mobility, and public space strategies. A pedestrian-focused ground level will feature layered landscapes, transforming underused areas into connective green zones. All vehicular infrastructure — including roads, services, and logistics — will be relocated underground. The masterplan supports a shift toward preventive, longevity-focused care while reinforcing operational flexibility. New transit access points, including a Metro station within the campus and a nearby Light Rail stop, enhance connectivity and position the hospital as a central node in the future urban fabric. Sheba’s transformation reflects a broader healthcare vision — one that prioritizes adaptability, wellness, and access in an age of uncertainty.
